Frequently Asked Questions
Changing the Face of STEM Initiative (CFSI) is a groundbreaking multimedia project and educational campaign that engages black, brown, disabled, and female young people to dream of, embark upon, and succeed in careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). The initiative absorbs Changing the Face of Medicine and expands on it, utilizing the film Black Women in Medicine, the book Against All Odds, and the upcoming book Master Builders of the Modern World, along with customized programs of talks, workshops, and mentoring, all with the goal of securing our youth’s dreams and futures in the expanding STEM fields. Keeping in mind “you can’t be what you can’t see,” URU provides role models and tells the stories of women and people of color who have been trailblazers in the STEM fields, inspiring young people to follow in their footsteps.
Our goal is to partner with local organizations to ensure that every Changing the Face of STEM event is tailored for the community and location in which it is held. Please contact us to discuss the possibility of bringing this transformational program to your community.
